AMBASSADOR OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION TO THE REPUBLIC OF FINLAND

ALEXANDER Y. RUMYANTSEV

Born on July 26, 1945.

Higher education: Moscow Physical Engineering Institute (1969), Higher Diplomatic Courses of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry for Foreign Affairs (2006).

In 1969-2001 worked in the Nuclear Energy Institute/Russian Research Centre “Kurchatov Institute”, of which was appointed Director in 1994.

2001-2004 – Minister of Atomic Energy of the Russian Federation.

2004-2005 – Head of Federal Atomic Energy Agency of the Russian Federation.

Since June 2006 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Finland.

In 1997 was elected Correspondent Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in 2000 – Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Since 2005 – Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Global Energy International Prize.

Doctor of Science, Professor.

USSR State Prize Winner (1986).

Author of more than 100 scientific publications.

Foreign languages: English.

Married, has a daughter.
